이글은 이제까지 한민족의 삶을 이끌어온 홍익인간의 이념을 살림으로써 파악하고자 하는 것이다. 살림, 생生의 본래적 의미는 ‘~을 그것의 고유함, 본질로 있도록 지켜 줌’이다. 홍익인간에서 ‘인간을, 나아가 접하는 모든 것을 근본적으로 이롭게 함’이란 그것들이 각기 되어야 할 저의 참됨으로 있도록 하는 것이다. 홍익인 간은 곧 살림의 이념인 것이다. 살림으로서 홍익인간은 우리에게 다음과 같이 가르 친다. 인간은 저의 본성을 찾아 우주 신성과 하나로 통하는 가운데 신을 섬기며〔성통 性通〕, 아울러 신의 뜻에 따라 모든 것들이 하나의 어울림 속에 각기 참되게 존재하도 록 하는 과업을 완수〔공완功完〕해야 한다. 자신을 살리고 이웃을 살리라는 것이다. 살림이나 생태와 관련하여 제기되는 다양한 주장들은 이 홍익의 정신에서 벗어나지 않는다. 자연과 인간 삶을 비본래성으로 몰아넣는 ‘죽임’의 문제가 나날이 심각해질 수록, 우리는 홍익인간에 담긴 구원의 소리에 더욱 귀 기울여야 할 것이다. |

| Abstract |
This article tries to look at Hong-Ik-In-Gan as korean founding principle from a viewpoint of 'Salim'〔생(生)〕. The korean word 'Salim' means intrinsically 'keeping something(or someone) as it(or he) is, in its(or his) essence'. 'Hong-Ik-In-Gan' teaches us to do good for everything, including human beings. What is the highest good for everything is to let it be in its truth. 'Hong-Ik-In-Gan' is the principles of 'Salim'. The core of 'Hong-Ik-In-Gan' as the ruling principle of life lies in 'the recovery of human nature〔성통〕' and 'the completion of heavenly task〔공완〕'. Humans should retrieve their true natures and connect with the holy One of the universe. At the same time they should worship God and, according to God's will, let all beings go together and be as they are. 'Hong-Ik-In-Gan' says that human beings and any being else should keep each other, belonging together. All the arguments surrounding the ecology and new human life do not escape this spirit of 'Hong-Ik-In-Gan'. Our concerns about the crisis where all beings are not entirely possible in themselves are growing. At that time, it is necessary to pay more attention to the idea of 'Hong-Ik-In-Gan'. |
